Today, Deb & I drove to Bodega Bay on the Pacific coast. We stopped at the site of the school and church where Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Birds' was filmed (creepy peepy). Then we went for a horseback ride with a guide named Scott (who rode bareback). Deb rode Sid and I rode Gibson. It had been many years since either of us had been riding. The hills were speckled with wildflowers and the temperature and sunshine were wonderful. By the end of the ride, one of my knees was talking to me and when I dismounted I couldn't walk or put weight on the knee, eek. Fortunately, a little massage and resting for about five minutes and I was good to go.
We drove up the coast and stopped at several beaches. At Jenner, the town where the Russian River enters the Pacific, we could see many sea lions laying like matchsticks on the sand. We drove along the river and the landscape changed from the windswept coastal hills to more deeply forested areas. We are staying the night in Guerneville at a lovely place with a fireplace and a deck over-looking a huge blackberry patch. We walked the town and had dinner. Tomorrow morning we'll go see some serious redwood forest at Armstrong State Park and then head back to my home in San Jose.
I will attach a few photos when I get home. Debie is experiencing a mixture of physical events, she is strong like a bull and her spirit is fierce and loving. Thanks, Denver friends for supporting her animals and household so she could come a play with me.
